Frequently Asked Questions

Can I order a set of bobbins with different colors and/or patterns?

At this time, sets are only sold in sets of three in the same color and pattern.

Can I order a single bobbin?

Bobbins are only sold in packs of three with the exception of Limited Edition offerings, which may be sold as single bobbins.

Will the FiberFox bobbins fit my current Daedalus wheels?

Absolutely! I have been working under a close mentorship with David Giles of Daedalus Spinning Wheels to ensure the same high quality you have come to know and love from their wheels.

How does the quality of FiberFox bobbins compare to original Daedalus bobbins?

FiberFox bobbins use the same aluminum drums, ABS filament sources, and bearing suppliers as Daedalus for all the Sparrow bobbins.

What is the warranty on FiberFox bobbins?

FiberFox warrants their bobbins against manufacturer errors for 1 Year. Product damaged in shipping will be refunded or replaced when reported within 30 Days of delivery.

What’s so special about the aluminum brake drums? Why use them?

Aluminum brake drums were introduced on the Daedalus Magpie, and the results are just over the top. These drums are capable of 100% speed on Sparrow while still being close to room temp! This means no tension changes as the drum heats up during use, and it means you can run any belt material you wish.

I've heard that 3D Printed things will melt in your car on a summer day. Is this true?

In order for ABS plastic to melt in your car, it'd have to be hot enough to melt the car! Most hobby-level 3D printers will use a type of plastic called PLA. Although it's easy to work with and fine at room temperatures, it will quickly soften and bend in "hot car" temps. However, ABS plastic is the same type that's used in most of the parts in your car, because it's been designed to be tough, durable, and resist high temperatures without deforming. I only use the highest quality ABS I can find.

Will STL files to 3D print my own bobbins be available?

FiberFox Bobbins are more complex to build than others on the market. Bobbins for the Daedalus line-up use only stress tested ABS filament and custom designed parts to ensure a smooth, quiet, and safe experience for years to come. STL files will not be available from FiberFox, nor uploaded to any file depositories for consumer download.
